Friday March 7th was the date for the 8th Slideluck Edition in Barcelona. For the fourth consecutive year, we organized it in collaboration with the Centre Civic Pati Llimona, and their yearly photography festival, Enfocats 2014.
We had a panic moment in the morning when we heard the news that there had been a power cut in the Pati Llimona and all the surrounding area, but things went back to normal, and by the afternoon everything was ready for the show…
The evening program started with a presentation of the Revela Photo Prize organized by Can Baste. An interesting concept: a competition dedicated to social documentary photography where the amount of the prize is not awarded to the winning photographer, but to a NGO that works on the social problems documented in the winning project.
After the presentation, and the short introduction from the Slideluck Barcelona team, we started the slideshow. This year, the call for submissions was a big success, so we had really good material to select from and, although we had to take some difficult decisions, we had settled on showing 16 very powerful works from all kind of photographic styles and genres.
And then, the best part started… (As you may know if you have read previous write-ups from Barcelona, we have done a little change to the usual Slideluck program: to cope with the strange Spanish habits of having very late dinner, we have the dinner party after the slideshow).
We enjoyed the delicious food that was brought by the attendants (from the staple spanish omelette to Indian pulao), with two different varieties of Brookyn Brewery beer: Lager and Pilsner. The dinner and conversation went on for a couple of hours.
